High Human Rights Coordination Committee holds meeting

Manama, Feb.19 (BNA): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the 25th meeting of the High Coordination Committee for Human Rights. Assistant Foreign Minister , Abdulla bin Faisal bin Jabur Al Doseri chaired the session in the presence of committee members and representatives from the relevant ministries.
During the meeting, the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs conveyed the greetings of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani, to the members of the High Coordination Committee for Human Rights and his wishes of success to the Committee.
He affirmed the Kingdom's constant concern to respect human rights and freedom and work to strengthen its rules and foundations, which were emphasized by the reform approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, noting the important role played by the Kingdom’s ministries and institutions in order to advance the development process and enhance human rights on all levels, in addition to highlighting the human rights achievements that assure the values of justice, equality and citizenship.
He also stated that the Kingdom of Bahrain has a proven and honorable record of achievements and initiatives in respecting and promoting human rights and the fundamentals of freedom, Whereas, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, sponsored the celebration held at the Isa Cultural Center to present The Isa Award for Service to Humanity in its fourth session (2018-2019).
Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women, also sponsored the ceremony for the winners of the sixth session of the award of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa for Bahraini Women Empowerment, as these initiatives put the Kingdom of Bahrain on the international map in order to spread awareness and raise human rights efforts in accordance with the highest professional levels.
The High Coordination Committee for Human Rights reviewed a number of topics and files on the agenda, including a draft of the first annual report of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on human rights in Bahrain and the Kingdom's positions on national and international issues .
The panel reviewed a summary of the most important legal and rights achievements for 2019, and highlighted the latest developments and humanitarian achievements, training programs, ability building and bilateral cooperation with countries and international organizations.
The committee also discussed the outcomes of the comprehensive periodic review for the year 2017 in preparation for the start of drafting the fourth national report (UPR4) for the year 2021, all data indicators and statistics that confirm the implementation of these recommendations were also discussed.
The draft plan of action for preparing the national human rights plan and the program for extensive consultations, lectures and workshops to be held to involve stakeholders and the relationship in setting the frameworks of the plan in accordance with the highest international standards and with the participation of a number of experts and specialists from inside and outside the Kingdom were examined
The meeting concluded with the adoption of a number of topics and programs, and the committee made appropriate recommendations regarding it.
