Historic sites, temples in Thailand’s old capital safe from floods
AYUTTHAYA, THAILAND, September 18 (TNA) - Ayutthaya Governor Wittaya Piewpong says tourists can still visit historic sites and temples in the heart of Thailand’s old capital as they have not been flooded.
The Ayutthaya governor said this after he took a boat ride around the province on the Chao Phraya River to inspect the flood situation.
He said most of the flooded areas are situated along the banks of Chao Phraya and Noi rivers. Besides, the main roads of Ayutthaya have not been affected.
Governor Wittaya said although the water is flowing at a fast rate, the water level in the river remains stabilised. And with the slower releasing of water from the Chao Phraya dam, the inundations in Ayutthaya also remains to be steady.
According to him, the inundations in the province remain limited to six districts. (TNA)
