Hj Expedition Group Continues Journey To Bangkok

By Abdul Rahman Ahmad HATYAI, July 19 (Bernama) -- The convoy of ‘Kembara Inspirasi Haji ‘, comprising 16 participants, who arrived here Tuesday night, Wednesday continued their journey to Bangkok. They were supposed to spend the night at Surathani, about 300 kilometres from here, but decided to stay here for the night as they were too tired to continue with the journey after travelling the whole day from Kuala Lumpur. Their journey to Bangkok, covering more than 900 kilometres, is expected to take more than 14 hours. The expedition to Makkah, covering 16,000 kilometres, will take the participants across 10 countries, including Thailand, Laos, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran and United Arab Emirates before arriving in Saudi Arabia, The Kembara Inspirasi Haji expedition team comprises 14 men and two women, and they are expected to take 35 days to arrive at the holy land. Also in the expedition, organised by ‘Pertubuhan Kembara Amal’ (#PeKA), are Bernama News Channel (BNC) chief assignment editor Abdul Rahman Ahmad and cameraman Ahmad Shahuri Mat Jaan. During the travel, they would stop at several locations to hand over contributions to selected quarters. In Bangkok, the team will visit Yateem TV, an Islamic Thai television station, and also attend a programme with an Islamic non-governmental organisation known as Sattachon, which is responsible for helping refugees from Myanmar, Lebanon, Palestine and Syria in Thailand. -- BERNAMA
