HM King’s UN speech praised by lawmakers

Manama, Sept. 25 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s keynote address to the 75th session of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 75) has been praised by Shura and Representatives councils’ members. They stressed that the royal speech consolidates stability, peace and coexistence across the region and the world. Shura member, Shaikh Adel Al-Ma’awda, said that HM the King’s speech outlined Bahrain’s role and international contributions, adding that the kingdom is leading the way in its efforts to bring about stability, and in undertaking its duties towards various issues at the local, regional and global levels. He underlined HM King Hamad’s assertion of the need to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in accordance with the two-state solution, being an essential starting point for a just and comprehensive peace that would lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. He praised HM the King’s interest in highlighting the kingdom’s distinguished efforts to combat the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and pay tribute to the frontline heroes in the fight against it. Al-Ma’awda stressed the GCC dimension in HM the King’s keynote speech, through affirming Saudi Arabia’s role and stances vis-à-vis various issues, which, he said, is a message to the neighbouring countries to rally behind it in order to achieve unity and independence. He expressed full confidence in HM the King’s wise policies, stressing the need to back them in order to achieve peace, as well as the interests of Bahrain and the Arab world. Chairperson of the Shura Council’s Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee, Dalal Al-Zayed, affirmed that the keynote speech reflects HM the King’s wise vision based on the principles of peace and humanitarianism. She asserted that all decisions taken by HM the King emanate from the spirit of the National Action Charter and the Constitution, noting that Bahrain has been and still is an ally to all countries of the world, and is constantly committed to achieving UN goals. She indicated that HM the King’s address to the UN underlines Bahrain’s keenness to strengthen the basics of peace and coexistence for which it has been known throughout its history, being a country that embraces various sects, and ensures equal rights for the citizens and residents. Shura member, Sadiq Al-Rahma, said that the royal address outlined Bahrain’s message to the world and its firm stances towards Arab and Islamic causes. He pointed out that HM the King’s vision is based on peace, as Bahrain is the land of civilisations and peaceful coexistence. Chairman of the Representatives Council’s Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee, MP Mohammed Al-Sisi Al-Buainain, expressed pride in the approach adopted by the Kingdom under the leadership of HM King Hamad, and his wise vision towards achieving peace and prosperity through strengthening the fields of solidarity and consensus, under the umbrella of the global UN goals. MP Al-Sisi asserted that HM King Hamad’s speech paves the way for a new phase of peace after the signing of the declaration supporting peace between Bahrain and Israel, with the support of the United States, praising HM the King’s keenness to maintain Bahrain’s unwavering stance in support of the Palestinian cause through his call to intensify efforts to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in accordance with the two-state solution as the best means to reach a just and comprehensive peace that would lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. MP Dr. Abdulla Al-Thawadi affirmed that HM the King’s keynote speech is an open call for the world to adopt peace, reject differences and strengthen global solidarity by collectively facing all challenges. He added that the royal speech proves that the steps taken by Bahrain and the UAE to establish peace with Israel would increase the chances of peace, reduce tensions and give the peoples of the region an opportunity for understanding, rapprochement and peaceful coexistence. MP Mohammed Khalifa Bu-Hamoud stressed that the royal UN address showcased HM the King’s sound visions and the kingdom’s keenness to achieve peace and stability, being the cornerstones of peoples’ progress and prosperity. Shura member, Dr. Fatima Al-Kooheji, praised HM the King’s assertion of Bahrain’s commitment to its international obligations with regard to the need to preserve the strength and stability of the international system and continue its role in achieving peace, and share the UN vision on the importance of effective collective action to overcome all challenges and dangers. She affirmed that HM King Hamad’s keenness to preserve the region’s security and stability resulted in the kingdom’s establishment of relations with Israel, which, she said, is a civilised message affirming that Bahrain’s hands are extended for a just and comprehensive peace. She also hailed HM the King’s call for the International Community to intensify its efforts in order to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, in accordance with the two-state solution. She underlined the importance of HM the King’s stances regarding Arab and Islamic issues, praising the royal praise of the efforts of Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Egypt to safeguard regional and global security and peace.
