HM the King, Al Azhar Grand Imam perform Friday prayers

Manama, Nov. 4 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al Tayeb, Sheikh of Al Azhar Al Sharif and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, today performed the Friday prayers at the Sakhir Palace Mosque. Their Highnesses the sons, members of the Royal Family and religious scholars also performed the prayers at the mosque. In the sermon, the Imam, Shaikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Hajiri, spoke of the importance of tolerance and coexistence, and opening opportunities for dialogue with all. Shaikh Al Hajiri highlighted the humanitarian initiatives achieved during the reign of HM the King, including the establishment of the King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence and the King Hamad Chair for Interfaith Dialogue and Peaceful Coexistence at the University of La Sapienza in Rome. Both aim to promote a culture of tolerance and the principle of peaceful coexistence among nations and people of faith.
