HM the King of Bahrain congratulates newly-elected Speaker

Manama, Dec.12 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa sent a cable of congratulations to Ms. Fawziya Zainal who was elected Speaker of the Council of Representatives during the procedural meeting at the opening of the 1st session of the fifth legislative term. HM the King said that the election of the first woman speaker of the Council of Representatives represents a quantum leap forward and source of pride for the Kingdom of Bahrain which spared no effort to empower women. HM the King expressed optimism that the new-look Council of Representatives would achieve and address key issues that concern the nation and citizens, wishing the newly-elected Speaker every success in assuming her duties. HM the King sent two cables of congratulations to the Council of Representatives First and Second Deputy Speaker Abdulnabi Salman and Ali Zayed, wishing them success in assuming their duties.
