HM King congratulated by Shura Chairman on International Day of Democracy

Manama, Sept. 14 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received a congratulatory cable from Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh on the International Day of Democracy which is observed on September 15. The Shura Council Chairman expressed pride and appreciation of the democratic approach laid down by HM the King to promote parliamentary work and political participation, since the launch of the comprehensive reform march. He stressed that the steps taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain to boost its democratic march and political participation have won regional and international praise and respect. He also lauded procedures taken by the kingdom to enable national competencies to participate in building the nation, foster democracy and respect of human rights and political freedom. The Shura Council Chairman affirmed that boosting the democratic approach that has accompanied the march of the legislative branch since 2002, with the support of HM the King, has enhanced the role of the Shura Council in serving the nation and citizens and modernizing the legislative system. He pledged to continue working on promoting democracy and mapping out policies to bolster growth, stability and prosperity and ensure a better future for the posterity.
