HM King congratulates Education Ministry, students for TIMSS outstanding achievements

Manama, Dec. 20 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has extended congratulations to the Ministry of Education and Bahraini students for their honourable and unprecedented accomplishments in the 2019 Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) exams, wishing everyone further success.
HM the King was responding to the congratulatory letter addressed to him by Education Minister, Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi.
In the letter, the minister extended deepest congratulations to HM the King on the unprecedented results attained by Bahraini students, voicing pride in HM King Hamad’s unwavering support for the educational march in the kingdom, which, he said, enabled students to achieve such outstanding results, enhancing Bahrain’s international standing in this regard.
He extended, on behalf of all the Education Ministry’s staff, parents and students, deepest thanks and gratitude to HM the King for his constant care.
It is worth noting that A report issued Amsterdam-based International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) showed the performance of Bahraini students going up from the low-intermediate benchmark to the intermediate-high benchmark, according to international standards, thanks to the increase in the students’ scores in mathematics and science compared to the previous cycles.
The report that covered 64 countries said that Bahrain ranked first Arab country in the fourth and eighth grade science tests, as well as the mathematics tests for the eighth grade. The Kingdom also ranked second Arab country in the fourth grade’s mathematics, just one mark behind the first country.
