HM the King deputizes HRH the Crown Prince to inaugurate the Pearling Path Visitor and Experience Centre

Manama, Nov.28 (BNA): On behalf of His Majesty King Hamad, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, today inaugurated the Pearling Path Visitor and Experience Centre in Muharraq, as part of the "Pearling, Testimony of an Island Economy" UNESCO World Heritage site. HRH the Crown Prince noted that the opening of the Pearling Path Visitor and Experience Centre is a new milestone in the promotion of Bahrain’s rich cultural heritage, and highlighted His Majesty King Hamad’s strong support for this ambitious endeavor. HRH the Crown Prince highlighted the new centre’s role in ensuring that Bahrain’s unique and ancient pearling industry - a central aspect of the Kingdom’s cultural identity- is preserved for future generations and visitors. While touring the Center facilities - which include an exhibition and multimedia centre, a Pearling Heritage Archive, a Library, and several conference and lecture rooms - HRH the Crown Prince praised the work of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) and their execution of this important project. HRH the Crown Prince also attended a pearl exhibition featuring a unique collection of Bahrain’s finest pearl jewelry. The President of BACA, Her Excellency Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, thanked His Majesty King Hamad for his patronage of the Pearling Path Visitor and Experience Centre and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince for inaugurating the centre. Her Excellency Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa concluded by expressing her pride in the work undertaken by the government to preserve the Kingdom’s unique cultural, social and economic heritage, which has resulted in the inclusion of two sites on UNESCO’s World Heritage list. The President of BACA also expressed her satisfaction that the Centre’s opening will coincide with celebrations marking the end of Muharraq’s tenure as the capital of Islamic Culture 2018, as well as an Extraordinary Session of the Islamic Conference of Culture Ministers, which is due to take place in the Kingdom.
