HM King ratifies, issues Law 43/2018

Manama, Sept. 26 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa ratified and issued Law 43/2018 amending some of the provisions of Law 13/1975 on regulation of Government Employee pensions and retirement, after its approval from the Shura and Council of Representatives. The amendment stipulated replacement of clauses 1-C and 2 of Law 13/1975 on regulation of Government Employees Pensions and Retirement as follows: Article 1 clause 2: Employees: Bahraini national linked with the State through a contractual relationship who has reached 18 and not exceeded 60 years and employed by the government. The term includes permanent and temporary public employees employed under a specific duration contract with full time during working days and receives the prescribed salary and benefits of his position or a lump sum salary. Article 2: The provisions of this law shall apply to all Bahraini employees appointed in scales in the State’s general budget or municipal budget or the remaining local authorities, including temporary employees. This law applies to ministers regarding their pension dues. The provisions of this law shall not apply to the following: 1-Bahrain Defence Force and Public Security personnel. 2-Employees in public institutions and general directorates excluded from the provisions of this law and subject to issuance of an edict from the Prime Minister. The second clause stipulated that whilst observant to the provisions of article 11 of Law 13/1975, the subscription of government employees shall be calculated for temporary employees not less than the subscriptions deductible from the salary of permanent employees in similar position.
