HM King receives audited financial statements

Manama, May 7 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received President of the National Audit Court (NAC) Hassan bin Khalifa Al Jalahma who presented the audited financial statements of the NAC accounts for the financial year that ended on December 31, 2018. HM the King praised the good efforts exerted by the NAC president and staff, noting their outstanding performance and achievements in preserving public funds and verifying the safety and legitimacy of spending while adopting the highest standards of integrity, professionalism and transparency. HM the King was briefed on the achievements of NAC during 2018 in relation to the oversight carried out on the audited entities and the positive impact that the court’s observations and recommendations made on their performance. Al Jalahma said that the presentation of the 2018 NAC report coincided with the passage of 15 years of the bureau’s establishment. That period witnessed the achievements of the court in order to root up its mission to verify the integrity and legitimacy of the use of public funds, and establish its mission as an independent supervisory body working professionally to help the entities under its control to improve performance, ensure accountability and enhance transparency, and promote the values of independence, objectivity, integrity, credibility, professionalism, quality, transparency and positive approach, which are essential values and beacons that guide the court in carrying out the tasks entrusted to it, Al Jalahma said. The meeting reviewed NAC’s plans and programmes related to financial and administrative auditing and performance in the unified final account of the state and the final accounts of the ministries and government agencies for the fiscal year that ended on December 31, 2018. The report also highlighted the response of the entities to the repercussions of the current economic situation and the increasing importance of NAC in keeping with the Government Action Plan, the rationalization of spending and the optimizing of its impact on the national economy. Al Jalahma said that he took pride in listening to the directives of HM the King and to his views regarding the role of the National Audit Court in supervising state funds. He added that HM the King praised the outstanding performance shown by NAC through the annual reports it has been issuing since its inception and their positive and effective impact on developing the performance of the audited entities and helping them to address weaknesses or deficiencies in order to enable them to perform their tasks in an institutional manner based on laws and the procedures governing their work.
