HM King receives Bahrain X-raid team

Manama, Jan. 18 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received at Al Rawdha Palace today Board Chairman of Bahrain Motor Federation Shaikh Abdullah bin Isa Al Khalifa who introduced to him Bahrain X-raid team on the occasion of their victory in the Dakar 2020 Rally, hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
A total of 550 drivers from 62 countries took part in the championship, the first edition held in the Middle East. Team Bahrain clinched the well-deserved title in the first self-constructed and developed car. The kingdom’s participation in the championship took place in cooperation with Spain.
HM the King thanked the team members and congratulated them on the historical achievement which is added to Bahrain’s track record of accomplishments in various sports at the regional and international level. He lauded the team’s distinguished technical level and competitive performance, praising the efforts of the administrative and technical staff.
HM the King stressed the importance of the achievement in gaining more experience and opening up new horizons for cooperation in such sports, wishing the team every success in future races.
Shaikh Abdullah bin Isa Al Khalifa extended sincerest thanks and gratitude to HM the King for his support and encouragement to sports and athletes in Bahrain, including motor sport, in particular. He described the royal directives as an incentive to exert more efforts to uphold the kingdom’s flag in future competitions.
The Bahrain Motor Federation Board Chairman expressed thanks and respect to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier for his tremendous support to motorsport in Bahrain which led to clinching the title. He also thanked Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, National Security Advisor and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his tireless efforts to develop the sport sector and win more titles.
