HM King's patronage of heritage sports hailed

Manama, Jan. 10 (BNA): Khalifa bin Abdullah Al Qa’ood, Chairman of the Popular Heritage Sport Committee a subsidiary of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), hailed His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for the Royal patronage of Popular Heritage Sports, lauding the tremendous role of His Majesty in the revitalisation of the heritage sports of our ancestors in preservation of our national identity, customs and traditions.
Bahrain has become the region’s leading nation in the arenas of popular heritage sports thanks to the Royal patronage of His Majesty the King, Al Qa'ood said. He expressed his utmost gratitude and appreciation of His Majesty’s reception yesterday at the Safriya Palace to the top three winners of the Heritage Knight Competition, which is a major competition organized under the supervision of the Popular Heritage Sport Committee, asserting that the Royal reception was a great honour to all committee affiliates.
He stressed that this Royal gesture indicates the unlimited support and patronage of His Majesty to the Popular Heritage Sports positioning the Kingdom of Bahrain as the key hub of popular sports at the regional level thanks to the Royal patronage for the youth and sports movement and resulting in outstanding accomplishments at the various international platforms in the prosperous era of His Majesty the King.
He added that this Royal support increases our insistence and fortitude on putting more efforts and working to develop the popular heritage sports in Bahrain in harmony with the directives of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, and according to His Highness’s strategic vision and initiatives for advancement of all sports particularly Bahrian’s popular heritage sports.
It is worth mentioning that Ahmed Ma’youf Al Romaihi was crowned as Knight of Popular Heritage. Meanwhile, Mansour Ali Al Khaldi came second and Nawaf Hassan Al Ka’bi ranked third after a protracted athletic competition spanning more than 24 hours.
