Hospital apologizes for nurse’s inappropriate behavior
PHISANULOK, Sept 25 (TNA) – Buddhachinaraj Hospital apologized for the viral clip, showing a nurse’s improper behavior and is mulling over transfer of the nurse out of the area during the disciplinary probe.
After a Facebook user posted the 18-second clip, showing a nurse threw a blanket on the face of an elderly bedridden patient and yank him, it drew a lot of criticisms from the public.
Hospital’s director, Suchart Porncharoenpong apologized for what happened in the clip. He said the hospital has talked the relatives of the patient, who remains hospitalized and is speeding the disciplinary probe over the case. He proposed to the provincial governor that the nurse be transferred out of the area for the time being.
After the clip was posted, it was viewed 3.2 million times as of yesterday, drawing more than 26,000 comments, mostly criticizing the nurse’s action and calling for responsibility from concerning parties. It was shared 110,000 times.
The hospital said in a press conference yesterday that the nurse was initially transferred to another division, which was not giving care to patients. It is believed that she was under stress from hard work. The hospital is the main state hospital in Phitsanulok, treating several thousands of patients per day. - (TNA)
