Houthi assault on Islamic sanctities condemned

Jeddah, Nov. 5(BNA): The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Permanent Representative to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Shaikh Hmood bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, took part in the OIC Executive Committee meeting held at the ministerial level today (Saturday) in Jeddah to discuss developments of the Houthi militias launching a ballistic missile toward Mecca in violation of all Islamic and moral values and norms. The meeting issued a communiqué in which participants condemned in the strongest terms the Houthi militias, and those who stand behind them of some of the regional countries, assault on Meccam which it considered as an assault on the sanctity of the holy places in Saudi Arabia and a provocation of Muslim feelings across the world as well as an evidence of their refusal to comply with the international community and its decisions. The meeting backed the statements issued by members and non-members, as well as regional organizations and international countries that condemned the attack, which aims to destabilize security and stability in the Holy Land and to pre-empt all efforts to peacefully end the conflict in Yemen. Participants also stressed the support of the member states to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the face of terrorism and against anyone who tries to target the holy places as well as confirmed the solidarity of member states with Saudi Arabia in all the steps and measures taken to preserve its security and stability. They also called on all member states for a unified stance against this vicious attack and those who stand behind it and provide weapons support to its perpetrators, considering that compromising the security of Saudi Arabia also compromises the security and cohesion of the entire Islamic world. Participants said that they consider those that of support the Houthi militias, provide them with arms and smuggle ballistic missiles and weapons to them is their partner in the assault on the sanctities of the Islamic world and a clear partner in planting sectarian strife as well as a key supporter of terrorism. They called on member states and the international community to take serious and effective steps to prevent the occurrence or recurrence of such attacks in the future and called for holding accountable all those who smuggle weapons, provide training and continue to support the coup group. In conclusion, participants recommended the convening of an emergency meeting of foreign ministers of member states in Mecca within the next two weeks in regards to this attack and follow up its developments.
