How to help rural women

Astana, April 11, 2009 (Khabar) - This issue has been discussed at the sitting of National commission on women’s affairs and family-demographical policy. First of all it is necessary to five women possibility to receive accessible loans and render informational and psychological assistance. Currently women work in all the spheres. Last year women’s employment in agriculture was about 50%. In 2008, Fund of Financial support of agriculture allocated about 3 000 micro loans for the sum 924 million tenge for rural women. “Kazagromarketing” held over 700 seminars and about 600 women took part into them. The next sitting of the commission will be held in villages. Aigul Solovyova, Majilis deputy has said the budget allocated about 350 billion tenge for development of agro industrial complex. “KazAgro” national holding received 120 billion tenge and 280 billions will be received in framework of realization of President’s address.

Gulshara Abdykalikova, chairwomen of National commission on women’s affairs and family-demographical policy under the President of RK:
- We have defined the plans of National commission for the whole year and summed up the results. At the same time we stressed the situation of women in villages. Currently many measures are taken in framework of anti-crisis program, such as micro lending and improving of rural people. We made an accent onto the women’s conditions. We have made the remarks and members of National commission proposed good suggestions. We will control this issue and work further.

And UNDP constant representative in Kazakhstan, Haolyan Shu has presented the project “Support of National commission on women’s affairs and family-demographical policy on improving of gender equality in Kazakhstan”. It is supposed for three years. The republican budget will allocate $300 000 for its realization and UNDP and UK embassy will allocate the same sum.
