HRH the Crown Prince receives the outgoing Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council

Manama, Jan. 2 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, today met with His Excellency Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, outgoing Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), at Gudaibiya Palace. HRH the Crown Prince praised the efforts of Dr. Al Zayani in strengthening cooperation among the GCC countries and with the wider region, as well as his role in advancing truly collective action from the General Secretariat. HRH the Crown Prince then informed Dr. Al Zayani of His Majesty the King’s wishes to appoint him Minister of Foreign Affairs. HRH the Crown Prince went on to praise the successes of His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa during his tenure as Minister of Foreign Affairs, especially his contribution to the advancement and promotion of the Kingdom’s international agenda. HRH the Crown Prince wished HE the very best in his new position as His Majesty the King’s Adviser for Diplomatic Affairs. For his part, His Excellency Dr. Al Zayani expressed his appreciation for the trust instilled in him by HM the King and thanked HRH the Crown Prince for his support towards the enhancement of GCC cooperation and regional prosperity.
