HRH Premier’s efforts hailed by UN Chief

Manama, Jan. 11(BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa received a written message from United Nations (UN) Secretary General António Guterres.
He extended deepest thanks to HRH the Premier, hailing his unwavering support to the UN-led efforts to maintain global peace, promote sustainable development and human rights for all.
He paid tribute to the Premier and hailed his written message he had received on the occasion of the UN Day, which reflects Bahrain’s keenness on strengthening relations with UN and its agencies and organisations. He also praised HM the Premier’s support to the UN in its efforts to maintain peace and stability and achieve global development.
“It is encouraging to realise that the UN can count on the support of Your Royal Highness at times when we face many challenges and dangers”, he said.
“The ideals and goals set forth in the UN Charter remain a beacon and milestone to advance joint efforts for peace in the world and to promote sustainable and comprehensive development”, he added.
He looked forward to HRH the Premier’s participation in the ceremony marking the 75th UN anniversary to hear HRH the Premier’s opinions in a global dialogue on how best the UN can confront challenges facing the world in the future.
He announced that the UN would launch a wide-ranging dialogue on the role of global partnership in shaping the desired future. .
“The opinions and ideas expressed in the dialogues will be presented to world leaders and senior UN officials on a high-level event during the 75th session of the UN General Assembly to be held in September 2020”, he said.
The UN has launched in January 2020 a campaign themed “UN 75” , which consists in engaging multi-level dialogue in all regions of the world so as to reach the largest possible number of people, hear their hopes and fears, benefit from their ideas and experiences, in addressing the challenges that the world is going through, ranging from climate crisis and demographic shifts to technological track.
The initiative aims to muster collective action and to strengthen international cooperation so as to make the world better off by 2045, that is, by the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations.
