Manama, Apr. 8 (BNA): The decision of the Arab League to bestow the "Development Work Shield" upon His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa during a grand ceremony at its premises in Cairo on April 19, is a new token of international and Arab appreciation to the Prime Minister for his innumerable giving and achievements in the field of development that have covered all regions across the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Arab League granted the shield to HRH Premier after thorough study of his landmark contributions to the development boom witnessed by the kingdom in various fields, and therefore has become, according to the Arab League, a high-profile personality with outstanding contributions and an inspiring development vision in the Arab World that should be highlighted and emulated. The Arab League’s honouring of HRH the Prime Minister is also in tribute for his tireless efforts to enhance joint Arab action in the midst of the current situation in which the Arab world is in dire need for more solidarity in order to be able to confront the multiple challenges that pose a threat to Arab national security and stability, in addition to his repeated calls for Arabs to be vigilant and cohesive in order to not to leave a loophole for those seeking to interfere into domestic Arab affairs. In this regard, HRH Premier always said, "Ambitions are endless and as long as we are working, horizons will always remain open for us", which reflects his unwavering resolve to boost development and bring about more achievements. The Arab League Chief’s description of HRH the Prime Minister as a beacon and role model for sustainable development not only in Bahrain, but also across the Arab World, reflects the numerous international development awards granted to him well deservedly, including the 2006 Scroll of Honour Award in Urban Development and Housing by UN-Habitat, and the 2006 Scroll of Honour Award in Urban Development and Housing by UN-Habitat, the 2010 UNESCO Avicenna Gold Medal, the Millennium Development Goals award in recognition of his crucial role in engineering Bahrain's development prowess, in addition to many others. The Arab League Secretary-General’s letter to HRH Premier also appreciated Bahrain’s sustainable development success, which has entitled Bahrain to top the region in human development reports and promoted its experience in sustainable development as a success story, which reflects the Prime Minister’s resolve to bring about progress for the sake of the nation and its people, which gained him global acclaim. Indeed, HRH Premier has always affirmed that Bahrain will continue its successes in the field of comprehensive and sustainable development after being the first country to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs 2015). It has always advanced steps towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030. Through conferring the "Development Work Shied" on HRH Premier, the Arab League seeks to shed light on a development beacon, motivate joint Arab action and draw interest in development and service to humanity issues.
