HRH Premier granted honorary doctorate

Manama, Apr. 11 (BNA): The Al-Quds Open University (QOU) has conferred on His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman the honorary doctorate with all rights and privileges in recognition of his humanitarian and development stances and in tribute for his advocacy of Arab and Islamic issues and unlimited support for the Palestinian people. HRH Premier received the honorary doctorate from the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, in the presence of the QOU Board of Trustees Chairman, Adnan Samarah. HRH the Prime Minister expressed thanks and appreciation to the board of trustees and faculty of the Al-Quds Open University for conferring the honorary doctorate on him, lauding QOU's high scientific and academic status in the Palestinian society, out of its mission and vision to achieve leadership, distinction and creativity in the field of open university education, as well as its keenness to serve society and scientific research. HRH the Prime Minister reiterated Bahrain's firm stance in support of the Palestinian cause and legitimate rights of the Palestinians to set up their independent state, and to live in peace and safety. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of developing and coordinating Arab stances, and consolidating joint Arab action to support the rights of the Palestinian people. QOU Board of Trustees Chairman lauded HRH the Premier's effort's to enhance joint Arab action and support for the Palestinian cause, stressing that the Prime Minister is a leader who played a key role in promoting the status of the Kingdom of Bahrain as a development role model. Adnan Samarah said that granting the honorary doctorate to HRH Premier is an historic event in the history of the QOU, adding that QOU is proud that conferring the prestigious scientific degree on the Prime Minister coincides with his honouring by the Arab and international communities in recognition of his distinguished status and pioneering development role which gained him global acclaim and respect.
