HRH Princess Sabeeka deputizes SCW Secretary General to take part in ICESCO forum

Manama, June 25 (BNA): Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King, President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), has deputized SCW Secretary General, Hala Al Ansari, to take part in the International Forum on Female Entrepreneurship and Women’s Empowerment which was organised by the Islamic World Organization for Education, Science and Culture (ICESCO) in its headquarters in Rabat, Morocco, under the theme “Female Entrepreneurship: A Future Lever Key to Sustainable Development “. During her participation in the virtual forum, Al Ansari pointed out the steps taken by SCW during the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic to handle its repercussions on women, including Bahraini female entrepreneurs. She noted that the national programme will focus in the next stage on policies based on “sound outlook for the future” to deal with any emergency circumstance. The SCW Secretary General affirmed the importance of the forum which is organised within the context of celebrating the International Day of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. She said the event comes while the world continues its war on Covid-19 to contain its exacerbating impact. "The current crisis is putting us, as you can see, under a difficult test,” she said addressing the forum. She stressed the need to emerge victorious on the virus despite all hardships. She called for concerted efforts to adopt more initiatives supporting women in the entrepreneurship field. Al Ansari took part in the three-day forum alongside a number of ministers, senior officials, ambassadors and experts who turned up in person at ICESCO headquarters in Rabat, Morocco, or participated virtually in the event. The forum is part of the celebration of 2021 ICESCO Year for Women, and aims to raise awareness of successful businesswomen, discuss the promotion of women’s participation in entrepreneurship, and the celebration of the International Day of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. In his inaugural speech, ICESCO Director General, Dr. Salim bin Mohammed Al Malik, described the event as an opportunity to celebrate the success of amazing women in surmounting obstacles and proving that women are partners in the making of human civilization as well as motivating policies and trends to boost female entrepreneurship and women’s role to bring about the desired change for a better world based on justice, equality and true partnership between men and women.
