HRH Princess Sabeeka praises Bahrain-UAE food security partnership

Manama, Feb. 6 (BNA): Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Consultative Council of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD), received, at the Al-Rawdha Palace today, UAE Minister of State for Food Security, Mariam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Al Muhairi, who is currently on a visit to the kingdom. Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister, Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf, and a number of officials were present. HRH Princess Sabeeka welcomed the UAE state minister, and highlighted the kingdom’s support for the agricultural sector, citing steps taken to consolidate food security, including the inauguration of the National Strategy for Food Security to intensify financing for agriculture and livestock, developing agricultural equipment, enhancing investment in agricultural and food projects in Bahrain and abroad, attracting foreign investments to the kingdom and following up on the levels of storage compared to consumption. NIAD Consultative Council President lauded the existing cooperation and partnership between Bahrain and the UAE through the signing of a memorandum of understanding in the field of food security, expressing hope that such a partnership would benefit the two brotherly countries. The UAE State Minister expressed sincere thanks and gratitude to HRH Princess Sabeeka for her unwavering efforts and interest in the agricultural sector in the kingdom, citing her presidency of NIAD Consultative Council and multiple initiatives, including the Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS) and modern markets that embrace and market local agricultural products. She stressed that her visit aims to strengthen the existing partnership between the two countries in the fields of food security.
