HRH Princess Sabeeka's global prize announcement discussed

Manama, Feb. 9 (BNA): Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), Hala Al-Ansari, today received a delegation from the UN Women, on the sidelines of its participation in the 36th session of Arab Women Committee. The two sides discussed preparations for the official announcement of HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa's International Prize for Women Empowerment during the participation of Bahrain's delegation in the 61st session of the Commission on the Status of Women, to be held in March 2017 in New York. The meeting was held at the SCW initiative to communicate with the United Nations to launch a global award for the empowerment of women and Bahrain's efforts to attain the millennium development goals related to gender equality. HRH Princess Sabeeka, last June, patronized the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the SCW and UN Women on launching the global Prize for women empowerment economically, socially and politically, and women's participation in decision making in their social environment.
