IAF Galleries to hang Iran Darrudi’s paintings
TEHRAN,May 8(MNA) – All six galleries of Iranian Artists Forum (IAF) will be hanging paintings by Iranian surrealist painter Iran Darrudi opening on Wednesday.
Cosponsored by the IAF and Iran Darrudi Foundation, about 70 artworks including her huge masterpieces will go on show at the 57th solo exhibit of the artist.
Some of the works are for sale, along with the three books of “Between Two Dots”, a biography written by Darrudi herself and published by Ney Publications, the report added.
“The Story of Mankind and Its Perseverance”, a book written by Mehdi Mozaffari Savoji about Darrudi, will also be available at the exhibit.
Iran Darrudi Foundation was established last year by a group of Iranian art and cultural figures to establish a museum, and Darrudi has donated her entire works to the foundation.
This is the first official activity of the foundation with the collaboration of IAF.
Born in 1936, Iran Darrudi studied art at Ecole Superier des Beaux-Arts in Paris, the history of art at the École du Louvre in Paris, stained glass at the Royal Academy of Brussels, and television direction and production at the RCA Institute in New York.
Darrudi’s first solo exhibition was held in Miami in 1958 at the invitation of the Florida State Art Center.
A number of Darrudi’s works were put on display in an exhibition at the Shirin Gallery in Tehran in May 2009.
Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art had previously held a Darrudi retrospective in May 2008.
The exhibit will be running until May 29 at the forum located on Musavi St., Taleqani Ave.
