Illegal hunters in Turkey pay about 2 million TL in fine every year
ANKARA (A.A) - August 5, 2011 - Illegal hunters pay about 2 million Turkish lira (nearly $1.14 million) in fine every year.
Ministry of Forestry & Water Affairs Directorate General of Environment Protection and National Parks officials said Friday that security forces launched an average of 2,500 operations against illegal hunters every year and seized nearly 3,500 hunting devices and 2 thousand hunted animals.
People must receive a 32-hour hunting training before going hunting. They are given a special hunting permission certificates following the training program.
Security forces launched more than 4 thousand operations last year and seized 2,7250 hunted animals as well as 3,427 hunting devices. Illegal hunters paid about 2 million TL in fine in 2010. In the first seven months of 2011, fines reached 600 thousand TL.
