Indonesia's top parliamentarian visits Thailand

BANGKOK, September 7 (TNA) - Thai Parliament President Somsak Kiatsuranont welcomed visiting President of the People's Representative Council of Indonesia and President of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) Marzuki Alie and his entourage at the parliament building in Bangkok Friday morning. The Indonesian top lawmaker's visit to Thailand this week is aimed to strengthen bilateral relations between Jakarta and Bangkok and between AIPA's member countries, as well as to discuss lingering territorial disputes in the South China Sea among neighbouring countries in the region. During the meeting, the Indonesian top parliamentarian also invited the Thai Parliament President to attend the 33rd AIPA meeting, scheduled to be held on Indonesia's Lombok Island from September 16-22.(TNA)
