Industrial Training Opportunity In Indonesia For Malaysian Students

By Azeman Ariffin JAKARTA, June 13 (Bernama) -- Malaysian university students will have the opportunity to train in established companies in Indonesia. This is made possible through a memorandum of understanding between Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) and Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN Indonesia). TalentCorp chief executive Shareen Shariza Abdul Ghani said the practical training programme, ‘MyASEAN Internship’ in Malaysia and Indonesia was part of ongoing efforts to increase awareness among the youth in both countries about the ASEAN Economic Community. “The programme is designed to encourage human capital mobility in ASEAN at university level and will enable students from Malaysia to join companies in Indonesia as human capital mobility is an important component in modern manpower,” she said after signing the MoU. She represented TalentCorp while KADIN vice chairman Shinta Widjaja Kamdani signed on behalf of the Chamber. The signing was witnessed by Malaysia’s International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed, Indonesian Minister of Village, Disadvantaged Region Development and Transmigration, Eko Putro Sandjojo and Malaysia’s Ambassador to Indonesia Zahrain Mohamed Hashim. Shareen Shariza said the cooperation between TalentCorp and KADIN would also open opportunities for ASEAN students in both countries to become global citizens through their regional practical training experience. The cooperation would also help to overcome the problem of insufficient young skilled human capital in the ASEAN region, she said. For a start, she said, 30 companies in Indonesia would offer training to university students from Malaysia. Meanwhile, Mustapa said the MyASEAN Internship had proven to provide the best opportunity and experience for young human capital in the region and improve rapport among citizens of ASEAN member countries. He said the programme also provided employers wishing to expand their businesses throughout ASEAN, the opportunity to benefit from high calibre human capital well versed in the region. He said Indonesia with the fourth highest population in the world and therefore a huge market, was a major investing country for Malaysia. The MyASEAN training programme, a joint effort between the International Trade and industry Ministry and TalentCorp was launched in 2015. -- BERNAMA
