Inmate questioned after publishing rumours in foreign newspaper

Manama: Dec. 22 (BNA): The General Director of the General Directorate of Anti-corruption, Economic and Electronic Security said as part of the performance of its assigned duties the Directorate has monitored an article published in "Le Monde" ascribed to Nabeel Rajab and comprising misinformation and false rumors against of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in a bid to harm their national interests. The General Director added that permission was obtained from the Public Prosecution to summon and question the suspect who was already a inmate remanded in another case. The suspect denied having given such malicious statement or any other statement(s) to that newspaper. He also denied having any links with this newspaper or any published article it ascribed to him, alleging that only the newspaper which inserted his name should bear the responsibility. The General Director also said legal procedures were initiated in this regard to refer the case to the Public Prosecution.
