Interference in Bahrain’s internal affairs slammed

Manama, Apr.28 (BNA): The Shura Council’s Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee slammed the statement of Muqtada Al-Sadr in which he mentioned the Kingdom of Bahrain and defamed its leadership. It considered the statement as an unacceptable insult to the kingdom of Bahrain and its leadership, a blatant interference in the country's internal affairs, an obvious violation of international law and conventions and an abuse of the nature of relations between Bahrain and Iraq. The committe deplored the statements and interference which aim to spark division and fuel sectarian strife between citizens in the Kingdom of Bahrain, targets its sovereignty and independence, violates the international laws, the UN charter, the principles of good neighbourliness. It called upon the brotherly Iraqi people, all countries and legislatures to respect the sovereignty of other states, put an end to such blatant interference and incitement, which would only stir tensions and destabilize the region. It hailed the people of Bahrain for their awareness and support the leadership, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, the Government, chaired by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa. It paid tribute to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier for his support, stressing the importance of strengthening national unity to thwart all plots for Bahrain to remain forever strong, led by HM the King. The committee expressed support to all legal and diplomatic measures undertaken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to protect Bahrain’s sovereign and maintain its diplomatic ties, which are based on the principles of good neighbourliness and mutual respect, praying to Allah the Almighty to protect Bahrain from any harm.
