Interior minister receives GCC customs officials

Manama, Feb. 8(BNA): Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa today received GCC General Directors of Customs. The delegations are attending the 18th meeting of the GCC Customs Union in Bahrain. The meeting was attended by Customs Affairs President, Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa. Lt. Gen. Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al-Khalifa welcomed the GCC officials, expressing thanks and appreciation for their efforts to develop the process of exchange information and expertise to reinforce customs procedures, in order to positively reflects the commercial and investment activities, urban expansion and economic growth in the Gulf region. The minister hailed the active role of GCC Customs in facilitating travellers and trade traffic and at the same time promote customs security. He highlighted the importance for ongoing efforts to keep a pace with the latest development through further cooperation and coordination, to face challenges through unify stance and efforts. He highlighted the decision of the Supreme Council in the 37th session on the truck traffic between GCC countries, the developments of direct e-transfer system of customs fees and the results of the meetings of the committee assigned to review the unify customs law. The GCC officials expressed thanks and appreciation for the wise directives of Interior Minister, hailing the positive involvement of Bahrain through important customs suggestions and successful experiences, as well as high cooperation in all security work. They also expressed gratitude for the great hospitality, wishing all the best and prosperity to Bahrain.
