Interior Minister receives IPU President

Manama, Jan. 20 (BNA): Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa received today President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Gabriela Cuevas Barron, in the presence of member of the Representatives Council Fatima Abbas, the Public Security Chief, the Interior Ministry Undersecretary and the Assistant Undersecretary for Legal Affairs. The Interior Minister hailed the visit of the IPU President, lauding the key role played by IPU in promoting international peace and security. He emphasised that His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has laid the pillars of democracy in Bahrain, stressing that his wise leadership has contributed to promoting political achievements and protecting national gains. He added that Bahrain is heading into a more secure and brighter future for all social components within the framework of continuous efforts to promote the approach of reform and justice. The Interior Minister briefed the IPU President on the Interior Ministry’s efforts to maintain security and public order. Both sides also discussed issues of common interest.
