Interior Minister receives US ambassador

Manama, July 14 (BNA): Interior Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, received here today the US Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Steven Bondy and the accompanying delegation. The Chief of Public Security, Lieutenant-General Tariq Al Hassan and the Deputy Chief of Public Security, Major-General Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa attended. The Interior Minister welcomed the US Ambassador, praising the distinguished relations and strategic partnership between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the USA. He hailed the success of his visit to the United States last month for the dedication to reinforcing security cooperation and facilitating the travelling of Bahrainis through Bahrain's joining the Global Entry programme to activate an agreement signed in January 2021. He valued the outcomes of his negotiations during the visit with the US officials, including the Homeland Security Secretary, Assistant Secretary of State and Coordinator of the Counterterrorism Office, noting the importance of enhancing communication and exchanging security experiences and expertise to develop cooperation. The US envoy expressed thanks and appreciation to the Interior Minister for his keenness to promote cooperation, hailing the human rights accomplishments of Bahrain through the expansion in the implementation of the Alternative Sanctions and Measures Law and the open prison programme.
