International jury members impressed with World Awakening Awards

TEHRAN,June 11(MNA) -- Michel Setboun from France and Shahidul Alam from Bangladesh, two members of the jury of the World Awakening Awards, say they are pleased with the good quality of the artworks on display at the exhibition. The two men, who are both on the jury for the photo section of the exhibit, delivered short speeches at a session held on the side section of the World Awakening Awards exhibit at the Imam Ali (AS) Museum of Arts. Shahidul Alam called the museum a very good location to hold the exhibit and said that the displayed photos and posters were astonishingly beautiful. He said the posters displayed on the side section, especially those by Chaz Maviyane-Davies from Zimbabwe, were excellent. Michel Setboun stated that the works on display were up to the standards of those displayed in exhibitions in Europe, the United States, or any other countries. He also explained that he began career in photography with the Islamic Revolution of Iran in 1970s. He said that he was present at most of the important events during Iran’s revolution in and that many Iranian people had his photos in those days. Setboun added that he is planning to publish an article soon to inform the world’s photographers about this exhibition and the next editions of the event. A total of 199 cartoons, 147 posters, and 104 photos by artists from 55 countries are on display at the exhibit, which opened on May 13 and ends today with the announcement of the winners of each section. Six winners will be announced for each category. The first prize winner of each category will receive €10,000 and five others will be awarded €2500 each.
