International Wellbeing Conference and Exhibition opens

Manama, Nov.23 (BNA): Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza opened the Sixth International Wellbeing Conference and Exhibition at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. More than 200 participants from Bahrain and beyond are attending the two-day event, being held under the patronage of the minister. Sixteen exhibitors from across are also taking part in an accompanying exhibition. The conference is organised by the Bahrain Association of Occupational Health Physicians in coordination with Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) as a strategic partner, in association with the Origin Consulting Group. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mirza thanked the organising committee for the success of the conference and said it came at a time when scientific methods were being used to enhance productivity in all sectors. These methods, he said, have contributed to increasing productivity and the quality of human performance in general. He spoke about the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) experience in providing distinct and sustainable services, reducing and eliminating electrical outages and reducing absence from work. He said the concept of perfect health now went beyond the concept of disease prevention and is achieved through a balance between physical, mental and social health. He said if an individual followed a good diet it prevented disease. The individual should also strike a balance between work and public life and not allow the pressure of work to affect his social life, especially at home. The minister said a recent study said perfect health at the workplace would produce positive results and benefit the employee and the employer.
