IPU president hails Bahrain’s strides

Manama, Jan. 16(BNA): The President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Gabriela Cuevas Barron hailed the pioneering reform project, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa. She commended fruitful results of her meetings with officials, hailing Bahrain’s parliamentary and democratic strides and community progress and development. She made the statement as she left Bahrain this evening, wrapping up a visit at the invitation of Council of Representatives Speaker Fawziya bint Abdulla Zainal. The IPU president met, during her visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) and other senior officials. She also held official sessions of talks and visited several national institutions and key projects in the Kingdom of Bahrain. In her statement, she commended Bahrain’s democratic strides, supported by the political leadership, hailing the Kingdom’s diplomatic achievements and unwavering support to international security and peace. She lauded Bahraini women’s landmark strides, supported by HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, under the reform project, which was launched by HM the King, describing Bahrain as a role model in the Arab World.
