IPU president visits +973 Artisanat

Manama, Jan.19 (BNA): Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Gabriela Cuevas Barron paid a visit to +973 Artisanat, which hosts multiple Bahraini Small Business owners who manufacture Bahraini-made products. Present were Council of Representatives Speaker Fawziya bint Abdulla Zainal, +973 Artisanat Chief Executive Officer Dr. Shaikha Mai Al-Otaibi, a number of Mps and Shura Council members, Bahrain’s Ambassador to Belgium Dr. Bahiya Al-Jishi, National Institution of Human Rights (NIHR) President Maria Khoury and other entrepreneurs taking part in the project. The IPU chief stressed the importance of women’s economic activities in Bahrain, commending such pioneering initiatives which aim to support productive women. She said that the projects and exhibitions she had visited reflect Bahrain’s progress in all sustainable development sectors involving women, commending the dedicated efforts exerted by the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) and other leading women personalities. Chaired by Dr. Shaikha Mai Al-Otaibi, +973 Artisanatis is supported by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and SCW President. The project, which is under the supervision of the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, was established with the support of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) to back and encourage Bahraini entrepreneurs and associated institutions in realising their full creative potential through participation in “Plus 973” programme.
