Iran’s Farabi promoting productions at Cannes Film Market
TEHRAN,May 20(MNA) -- The Farabi Cinematic Foundation has offering a collection of Iranian movies at the Cannes Film Market, which is currently underway on the sidelines of the Cannes Film Festival.
“Hotchpotch” by Ebrahim Foruzesh opened the Iranian film screening at the market on Friday.
Two more movies “Cinema Dream” by Ali Shah-Hatami and “Salute to Angels” by Farzad Ajdari, out of 19 films by Farabi, also went on screen on Saturday.
According to the Farabi Cinematic Foundation International Department Director Amir Esfandiari, several meetings have so far been held with the festival organizers and film distributors from Turkey, Malaysia, Taiwan and Belgium since the market opened.
Several other Iranian organizations including the Iranian Young Cinema Society, the Documentary and Experimental Film Center and Filmiran are also presenting their products at the market.
Iranian cineastes Homayun Asadian, Farhad Aslani, Ali Alaii, Ali Mo’allem, Yekta Nasser, Hengameh Qaziani, and Fatemeh Motamed-Arya are among Iranian participants at the event this year, the report added.
Also included is Iranian director Shahram Alidi who is attending Cinémas Du Monde Pavilion at the festival this year. He is selected for his project “A Cemetery Which Breeds Grapes Every Morning”.
Moreover, Abbas Kiarostami’s Japanese-language drama “Like Someone in Love” is competing for the Palme d’Or with 21 other films from different countries.
The Cannes Film Market runs until 25.
