Iran to dispatch filmmakers to Myanmar to document Muslim massacre

TEHRAN,July 31(MNA) -- Iran’s Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC) planned to dispatch documentarians to Myanmar to make films on the massacre of Muslims by the country’s Buddhists. Millions of Muslims, who are considered a minority in Myanmar, have faced many problems over the past two years as the government of Myanmar refuses to recognize them. “The DEFC plans to dispatch three teams of documentarians to Myanmar in the near future,” DEFC Director Shafi Aqamohammadian told . Two groups will likely be led by directors Mehdi Karampur and Javad Mozdabadi, he said added. According to unofficial reports, more than 20,000 Muslims have been killed, tortured and displaced by the extremist Buddhists in Burma’s Rakhine Province in the worst sectarian killing in this part of the world for many years, the Pakistan Observer reported on July 13.
