The plan to weave the carpet, which has been entitled “Every Tourist, a Knot”, was announced by the Setareh Kavir Group, an Iranian cartel producing machine-made carpet. The group made the plan to commemorate the year 2010, which was celebrated as the International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures by UNESCO. Weaving commenced at the Dowlatabad Garden in Yazd on March 21, 2010 and was completed on April 4, 2012. The 120X210-carptet is composed of 2,233,000 knots, which have been tied by Iranian and foreign tourists. The carpet was woven with the helps of the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO, the Yazd Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Department, and Yazd Office of Culture and Islamic Guidance.
