Iran to produce doc on Kazem Darabi
TEHRAN,Aug.2(MNA) -- Iran’s Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC) will produce a documentary about Kazem Darabi, an Iranian who allegedly had a hand in Mykonos restaurant assassinations in 1992.
Ehsan Rajabi will direct the film entitled “Hajji Kazem".
In the Mykonos trial, the German court found Darabi and the Lebanese Abbas Rhayel guilty of the murder of Iranian-Kurdish opposition leaders and sentenced them to life in prison.
“Hajji Kazem” will reveal untold facts about Darabi’s life and his 16 years spent in prison, Rajabi said.
“The doc will center on Darabi’s family and his Lebanese wife who has long awaited her husband’s return,” he added.
“We will begin shooting in September next year and will try to get permission for filming in Germany, aiming to do interviews with Darabi’s cellmates and several others,” he stated.
Darabi was released in 2007 and returned home.
“The events happening in the court and in the prison, as well as Darabi’s cultural activities in Germany and later in Iran and Lebanon also will be reviewed in the documentary,” he added.
