Iran sympathizes with Laotian gov't, nation

Tehran, July 28, IRNA – Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi extended condolences to the Laotian government and people over tragic incident which was caused after a dam collapsed in Laos, leaving hundreds dead and many more vanished. According to the report of Foreign Ministry Media Department on Saturday, Qasemi sympathized with Laotian people and government. A dam on Mekong River in southeast of Laos suddenly collapsed last Monday, killing hundreds of people and making a large number of people homeless. Laos with a population of 7 million has built several dams on rivers in a border area with Thailand to generate electricity.
