Iran-Tunisia Culture Ministers Call For Enhanced Ties

Tehran, Nov 5, IRNA – Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini in a meeting with his visiting Tunisian counterpart Mehdi Mabrouk called for enhanced mutual cultural ties. Referring to the Islamic Awakening wave in North Africa and Arab World, Hosseini lauded Tunisia as a forerunner of the movement. On holding Iran film week in Tunisia, he said such a move indicates Iranian officials' strong will for fostering mutual political, economic and cultural cooperation. Describing the Tunisian government emphasis on Muslims unity as an appropriate approach, he said Iran believes that any type of extremism is detrimental to Muslims across the globe. Mabrouk, for his part, expressed hope that his visit to Iran could be considered as a new chapter in strengthening bilateral cultural ties. On the two countries cultural and historical commonalities, he termed Iran-Tunisia cultural relations as satisfying./end
