Iranian actress Asal Badiei passes away at 36

TEHRAN,April 6(MNA) -- Actress Asal Badiei died at the age of 36 at Tehran’s Loqman Hospital.
She was admitted to the hospital on March 31 allegedly for drug poisoning, which led to her brain death a day later, the Persian news outlets announced last week.
She had donated all her transplantable organs and tissues based on her last will and testament.
Badiei was immediately transferred to Tehran’s Masih Daneshvari Hospital to severe the organs and tissues for patients awaiting transplants.
Badiei rose to fame at 17 with her debut “To Be or Not to Be”, in which she played the role of a girl who needed a heart transplant.
She also starred in many other films and some TV series afterwards.
“The Sixth Person”, a telefilm which was broadcast from IRIB’s Channel 1 in February 2012, was her swansong.
“She accomplished her work in art by donating her organs to the patients,” IRIB Managing Director Ezzatollah Zarghami said in a letter of condolence sent to Badiei’s family.
Her funeral procession will begin at Vahdat Hall tomorrow and she will be buried in Tehran’s Behesht Zahra Cemetery.
