Iranian director to stage “Japanese Maple” based on Yasmina Reza’s “Life X 3”
TEHRAN,April 13(MNA) -- Iranian director Masud Tayyebi plans to stage “Japanese Maple” based on “Life X 3”, a play by the French writer of Iranian origin Yasmina Reza.
“‘Life X 3’ is very excellent and perfect, so I was concerned since the rewriting of the play began over two months ago,” Tayyebi said in a press release on Thursday.
“Rewriting was finished last week and the results are satisfactory,” he added.
The play will be performed at the Gosheh Hall of Tehran’s Niavaran Cultural Center in June, he stated.
The play is about Henry and Sonia, a couple which has a difficult evening with Arnaud, their wakeful six-year-old son; but Henry has other worries. About to publish the results of two years’ research on the flatness of galaxy halos, he’s desperate to make a good impression on the distinguished astrophysicist Hubert Finidori, who wields a decisive influence over the question of Henry’s longed-for promotion.
So when Hubert arrives with his rebellious wife, Inez, in tow for dinner on the wrong night, the fact that there is no food in the apartment is only one of the potentially disastrous elements in play.
NegarAbedi, FereidunMehrabi andHesamManzur are members of the cast and another actress will also join the group later, Tayyebi said.
He has previously staged “Tango of a Hot Egg” and “Chocolate Songs”, both by veteran playwright Akbar Radiand both were warmly received by theatergoers.
