Iranian films line up for 12th Osian’s Cinefan

TEHRAN,July 17(MNA) -- Several Iranian films will be screened at the 12th Osian’s Cinefan Film Festival, which will open in New Delhi on July 27. “The Orange Dressed” by director Dariush Mehrjuii is among the festival’s highlights this year, and has been selected as the opening film of the Environment Section, organizers announced on the festival’s website. The movie is about Hamed Aban, a photojournalist who switches careers to become a sanitation worker as result of reading a book about the environment. “Modest Reception” by director Mani Haqiqi is an entry in the Films in Competition Asian & Arab Section. The film is about a rich couple who distribute plastic bags full of money in the Iranian provinces -- a handout aimed purely at degradation. Ali Mosaffa’s “The Last Step” will go on screen in the out-of competition section. The film brought Leila Hatami the Best Actress Award at the 47th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic last week. She received the award for her portrayal of a beautiful and gifted Iranian film star named Leila in “The Last Step”, which has been directed by her husband Mosaffa. Mosaffa is expected to attend the film screening at the festival. “Tomorrow after Yesterday” by Behzad Molud is also another Iranian entry to the competition section of short films. The 12th Osian’s Cinefan Film Festival will open with Japanese director Keiichi Sato’s “Asura” and will end with Indian Rituparno Ghosh’s “Chitragandha” on August 5. Several master classes have been arranged on the side section of the festival. James Hart, the American screenwriter and author of Francis Ford Coppola’s “Dracula” is expected to hold a master class on horror during the festival on August 2.
