Iranian handicraft exhibition underway in capital

TEHRAN,June 8(MNA) -- A wide variety of handicrafts produced in Iran are on display at the 23rd National Handicrafts Exhibition in the Tehran Permanent International Fairgrounds. The exhibition, which opened on Thursday, is offering handicrafts from 31 provinces in over 600 pavilions, Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization (CHTHO) Deputy Director Yahya Rahmati said in a press release on Thursday. A number of artisans also are making handicrafts at the pavilions and selling them to visitors. In addition, several nomad tents have been set up on the sidelines of the exhibit whose occupants are offering local bread and traditional cuisine to visitors. The tents have been woven by nomadic women from goat hair. The exhibit will be running until June 11 at the Tehran Permanent International Fairgrounds located on Chamran Highway.
