Iranian LNG Carrier Rescued From Pirates Attacks

Tehran, Oct 12, IRNA – The Iranian naval forces rescued an Iranian LGN carrier from pirates attacks in the Gulf of Aden on Friday, Deputy Navy Commander Rear-Admiral Siavash Jarreh said. The vessel carrying liquid gas came under heavy repeated attacks by pirates who tried to seize control of the carrier several times using light and semi-heavy weapons, said the deputy commander. The pirates were forced to retreat by timely presence of the Iranian fleet, he added. This was the third confrontation between Iranian naval forces and the pirates in one month. In all three cases, the pirates were defeated successfully and forced to escape by the Iranian forces, deputy commander Jarreh said. The confrontation took place at the Raas Al-Mukalla region in the Gulf of Aden./end
