Iranian museums celebrating International Day of Peace
TEHRAN,Sept.22(MNA) – Several Iranian museums and organizations have organized programs to celebrate September 21, which marks the International Day of Peace.
Organized by Tehran Peace Museum, the programs include seminars and series of exhibitions, Director of the Iranian National Committee for ICOM (the International Council of Museums) Ahmad Mohit-Tabatabaii said in a press release published on Friday.
Experts on Sadi discussed character of Sadi as the symbol of peace at the Sadi Mausoleum in Shiraz during a ceremony organized by the Center for the Study of Sadi on Friday, he said.
Kermanshah Anthropology Museum is displaying a collection of artworks with the central theme of peace, while several museums in Shush (Susa), Choghazanbil, and Haft-Tappeh in Khuzestan Province are also holding exhibitions of photos and posters with the central theme of war and cultural heritage.
In addition, Tehran Abgineh Museum will be holding an exhibition of earthenware and glassware that opens today. Moreover, the Iran Science and Technology Museum has arranged a program in honor of the Iranian physician and philosopher Avicenna (980-1037 CE), screening a short biopic about him.
Golestan Palace Museum will be hosting an exhibition of calligraphy works by female Iranian artists, and the Bank Sepah Coin Museum will also be displaying a collection of gifts the museum has received over the years from other countries beginning today. The museum is offering free admission.
