Iranians win top prizes at World Awakening Awards

TEHRAN,June 13(MNA) – A photographer and a cartoonist from Iran have won the first prizes at the World Awakening Awards, the organizers announced.
Hossein Fatemi and Homayun Mahmudi won the cash prize of €10,000 in the categories of photo and cartoon during the award presentation ceremony at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art on Monday evening.
Lex Drewinski from Germany won the award in the category of photo.
The winners of second, third, fourth, and fifth prizes in the three categories were awarded €2500 each.
Mahmud Bazdar from Iran, David Monteleone from Italy, Ashley Gilbertson from the U.S., and Ivor Prickett from Ireland received the awards in the photo category.
Ali Miraii and Mohsen Asadi from Iran, Galym Boranbayev from Kazakhstan and Armen Hamonangan from Indonesia won the awards in the cartoon category.
Sebastian Kubica and Adam Klasa from Poland and Saeid Sheikhbeiglu and Morteza Rahmati from Iran won the awards in the poster category.
The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini and several other Iranian officials.
A team of jury members including Michel Setboun from France, Shahidul Alam from Bangladesh, and Kambiz Derambakhsh and Bahram Azimi from Iran also attended the ceremony.
A selection of the artworks from 55 countries are on display at the Imam Ali (AS) Museum of Arts in an exhibition, which runs until June 20.
