Iranology section established at Georgian library

TEHRAN,June 13(MNA) -- The National Parliamentary Library of Georgia has recently established a section for Iranian studies. The section opened on Monday during a special ceremony attended by a number of Iranian and Georgian officials, the Persian service of the IRNA reported. Over 1000 books on Iranian geography, history and cultural attractions are available in the section, Iranian ambassador to Tbilisi said in a short speech during the ceremony. A number of volumes of modern and classical Persian literature, over 100 DVDs of Iranian cultural education and a number of Iranian movies also are available in the section, Majid Saber added. The Iranian cultural attaché’s office under the auspices of the Georgian National Center of Manuscripts opened an exhibition on the sidelines of the ceremony. A collection of rare Persian manuscripts and copies of Iranian historical documents have been put on display at the weeklong show. In addition, a collection of Iranian handicrafts and photos of Iranian tourist and historical attractions have also been showcased at the exhibit. Over 3.5 million books in various languages are kept at the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia, which is the main book depository of the country.
